This pair of Ice Horse® Hock Wraps with patented, reusable Cold Capsule™ Inserts start colder and stay colder longer. They are scientifically tested and proven to provide therapeutic cooling for over two hours—three times longer than gel wraps. With the compression-tight wrap material made of heat-releasing Quadraspan™, not neoprene, these hock wraps offer cryotherapy that really works.
They provide uniform compression and coverage to reduce inflammation and heat in the front and back of the hock. They are open over the cap bone, and shaped and sized to give full, consistent compression and coverage.
Cold Capsule Inserts attach directly to Ice Horse wraps with Velcro® fasteners. A strip covers the Velcro fasteners to allow the packs to be compatible with the original, pocketed version wraps. The packs mold to the horse’s hocks and provide continuous cold therapy for over two hours per application.
Inserts are filled with small ice crystals which look and feel like soft, flakey snow when frozen, yet are malleable and conform to your horse’s body for maximum cooling coverage.
Ice Horse wraps with Cold Capsule Inserts are the choice of many veterinarians and leading riders and trainers. This set includes six 6″ x 10″ Cold Capsule Inserts (three for each hock boot).
About Cold Capsule Technology
When Cold Capsule inserts freeze, small ice crystals form. When fully frozen, the pack is filled with small ice crystals which look and feel like soft flakey snow, are malleable and conform to the horse’s body parts.
As the pack freezes and the ice crystals form, the pack expands slightly and needs to draw in air through the patented insert/bag. The vent is designed to resist liquid flow into or out of the insert. The conversion of the liquid to solid, which occurs during freezing of the insert, is what extends the time the bags stay below freezing. The patented formula of polymer granules eliminates the burning sensation associated with raw cold.
Cold Capsule inserts stay frozen for over to two hours. After use the inserts can be re-frozen. After extensive use the inserts become chunky—this is how you know when it’s time to replace them.
Note: When using Ice Horse products, the manufacturer recommends that your horse is securely tied and not left unattended.
